Ethics Policy

Last Updated: September 3, 2025

At TechDealReview, audience trust is everything. We aim to publish accurate, fair, and balanced coverage of consumer tech and smart-home gear. This policy explains the standards we follow to earn and keep that trust.

Commitment to accuracy

“Due accuracy” means more than meeting basic journalistic norms. It means you can rely on what you read here. We consider topic complexity, the type of information, and what readers reasonably expect before we publish.

How we investigate

We work to present the most accurate account possible by reviewing primary materials, testing products, and consulting relevant sources. We question assumptions, check claims, and acknowledge when some details remain uncertain despite best efforts.

Standards vary by content type

Different formats call for different approaches. A hands-on review, a news brief, and a research explainer do not require the same depth of sourcing. We apply standards that fit the piece while keeping accuracy non-negotiable.

Guidelines for ensuring accuracy

  • Reliable sources: We rely on verifiable, trustworthy sources. When primary sources are not available, we credit the original outlet and make that clear.
  • Verification of claims: Statements from companies, public authorities, or organizations are independently verified whenever possible. If something cannot be verified, we say so.
  • Corrections: If we make a mistake, we correct it promptly and transparently. See our Corrections Policy.
  • No misinformation: We do not mislead, alter, or fabricate information. Significant errors are acknowledged and fixed without delay.
  • Reader feedback: Every article invites feedback. You can suggest a correction by emailing us or using a correction link when available.

Fact-checking methodology

  • Editorial review: Each article is fact-checked internally and reviewed by one or more editors based on sensitivity and complexity.
  • Source engagement: When appropriate, we contact relevant parties for comment or clarification and note that outreach in the piece.
  • Expert input: We consult subject-matter experts when necessary and document the basis for key conclusions.

Information sources

  • Two-source preference: When feasible, we confirm important facts with at least two independent sources. Single-source claims require additional scrutiny.
  • Documents over anecdotes: We prioritize documented evidence, public filings, technical documentation, and repeatable tests over unverified human accounts.
  • Survey transparency: If we reference surveys or polls, we disclose methodology and limitations so you can judge quality for yourself.
  • On-the-record: We use on-the-record sources whenever possible and give context about a source’s relevance and credibility.

User-generated content

UGC requires special care. When we include reader tips, photos, or posts from social platforms, we:

  • Verify the source and seek permission when applicable
  • Label what is confirmed versus what is unverified or opinion
  • Clearly separate facts from rumor or speculation

Independence and conflicts of interest

  • Editorial independence: Advertisers, sponsors, and partners do not control our conclusions or picks.
  • Affiliate links: We may earn a commission if you buy through our links. This does not influence our recommendations. We disclose this in-line and on our site policies.
  • Review units: Loaner samples never guarantee coverage or a positive review. When a material connection exists, we disclose it. We do not allow pre-publication review or approval by brands.

Use of AI in our workflow

AI tools may assist with outlines, drafts, transcripts, or data cleanup. Editors review, verify, and approve all AI-assisted content before publication. Final accountability rests with our editorial team.

Corrections and updates

We correct inaccuracies quickly and note substantive changes on the page with a brief explanation of what changed and why. For evolving topics, we update articles to reflect new facts and label major updates.

Feedback and contact
